This is a celebration of Michał Urbaniak, a Polish music master whose six-decade career has shaped modern jazz and world music. The concert features an all-star ensemble performing his groundbreaking compositions alongside Polish melodies layered over funk grooves and advanced jazz harmonies.
The ensemble brings together acclaimed musicians: Xantoné Blacq on keyboards and vocals (known for fusing Stevie Wonder's soulfulness with Herbie Hancock's funk sensibility), Otto Williams on bass, Troy Miller on drums (formerly Amy Winehouse's drummer), Femi Temowo on guitar and vocals (MOBO-nominated guitarist), and Casey Whyte on violin—a 19-year-old Royal Academy of Music jazz student mentored by Nigel Kennedy, whose modern jazz violin language has impressed musicians like Jerry Bergonzi and Jean-Luc Ponty.
Urbaniak has collaborated throughout his life with Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Marcus Miller, and many other jazz legends. This ensemble honours his lifelong commitment to nurturing young talent while celebrating the visionary artistry that has made him a transcendent figure in contemporary music.
Part of the official EFG London Jazz Festival 2026 programme. Bar opens at 7 pm, music begins at 8 pm.
