Brazilian guitarist and vocalist Mario Bakuna returns to Hampstead Jazz Club for an intimate solo performance celebrating Brazil's rich musical traditions. With over 25 years of experience, Bakuna draws deeply from bossa nova and samba jazz, channelling the influence of João Gilberto's delicate syncopation and Baden Powell's virtuosic fusion of rhythms and jazz sophistication.
This 75-minute set blends Bakuna's original compositions with fresh arrangements of Brazilian classics and jazz standards, delivered with expressive vocals, refined swing, and his distinctive acoustic guitar style. The programme balances tradition with contemporary sensibility, showcasing the emotional depth that has earned him recognition across Europe, Brazil, and beyond — from sold-out club performances to festival stages hosting thousands.
