Join this special evening at St Olave Hart Street, which opens with Choral Evensong (5.30pm-6.15pm) before the main lecture begins. Writer and filmmaker Jack Jewers draws on research for his novel Seething Lane and The Lost Diary of Samuel Pepys to explore the world of the diarist and the Restoration London he knew. Pepys himself called this medieval church his "own church," making the venue itself part of the story.
Jewers offers insights into the process of bringing this complex historical figure to life, sharing observations on his life, times and legacy. The atmosphere combines history, literature and conversation in the remarkable setting of a 14th-century London church.
