Dr Giuseppe Albano MBE, director of Trent Park House of Secrets, presents an illuminating talk about this nationally significant museum and the extraordinary history it preserves. Expect fascinating insights into the mysteries, stories and secrets surrounding one of England's finest country houses.
Trent Park House was remodelled by Sir Philip Sassoon in the 1920s and became a wartime intelligence hub during World War II. The museum now tells the remarkable story of the 'Secret Listeners' – intelligence officers hidden in the basement who eavesdropped on senior German prisoners, generating some of the war's most crucial intelligence breakthroughs. The house ranks alongside Bletchley Park in historical significance.
Dr Albano brings over 14 years of museum leadership experience, having recently directed the Freud Museum London and previously served as curator and director of the Keats–Shelley House in Rome.
