The Wimbledon Symphony Orchestra presents an autumn programme featuring three major classical works. The concert opens with Emilie Mayer's Overture in D minor, moves into Grieg's Piano Concerto with soloist Julian Chan, and concludes with Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 'New World'. Matthew Lloyd-Wilson conducts, with Liz Whittam leading the orchestra.
This programme traces musical journeys through Scandinavia and beyond, showcasing romantic-era masterworks alongside the beloved New World symphony—one of the most performed symphonies in the classical repertoire, inspired by Dvořák's time in America.
