This guided walking tour offers a radically different perspective on Whitechapel's history. Rather than focusing on a notorious 1880s crime or the sensationalism that dominates much local tourism, the tour centers the lives and stories of the women involved, treating them as full human beings deserving dignity and remembrance.
Led by volunteers from Beyond the Streets charity—people with direct experience supporting vulnerable women—the tour traces the streets where these women actually lived, explores what is known about their lives, and commemorates their deaths with respect. The experience connects their historical struggles to the challenges women face today, offering insights into how to actively support efforts to end violence against women and girls.
A meaningful, empowering alternative to exploitative true-crime tourism. All donations raised directly support women in the community today.
