Celebrate a unique convergence of history, heritage and storytelling at this one-night-only event honouring London's Turkish-speaking migrant communities. The evening showcases two interconnected projects: More Than a Bundle Story, an oral-history and cultural-heritage exhibition, and the launch of Emel Sevinç's debut novel Unhemmed.
More Than a Bundle Story preserves the experiences of Turkish-speaking migrants who arrived in Britain from the late 1960s to the late 1990s, many of whom worked as tailors, machinists and garment workers in London's textile industry. Through photographs, recorded testimonies, personal memories and everyday objects, the exhibition explores themes of migration, work, family, sacrifice, identity and belonging—honouring a generation whose stories have often remained untold.
Unhemmed, set within London's Turkish garment industry, fictionally explores the lives, relationships and sacrifices of these migrant workers and the cultural and generational legacies they created. By bringing history and fiction together, the evening celebrates both the real documented experiences of this community and the creative work they have inspired.
Curated by Emel Sevinç, More Than a Bundle Story was previously exhibited in partnership with Hackney Museum. This is your only opportunity to experience these interconnected stories, memories and objects in one evening.
