Saxophonist Nathaniel Facey, a Tomorrow's Warriors alumnus and founding member of the award-winning ensemble Empirical, takes the stage with the Tomorrow's Warriors Junior Band. This is a rare opportunity to hear an established jazz musician perform alongside the organisation's most promising young talent - musicians aged 14-16 from the renowned Young Artist Development Programme, mentored by trombonist Rosie Turton.
Facey has collaborated with jazz luminaries including Jack DeJohnette and Jason Moran, and is known for an uncompromising, passionate approach to his playing. The Junior Band honours the great jazz tradition whilst bringing their own distinctive arrangements and style to contemporary performance.
Tomorrow's Warriors has shaped UK jazz for 35 years, providing free access to training and performance opportunities for young Black and female musicians and those facing barriers to pursuing music careers. The organisation has launched the careers of Mercury Prize 2023 winners Ezra Collective, Moses Boyd, Nubya Garcia, Shabaka Hutchings and many other leading artists now performing internationally. Seventy percent of ticket proceeds support Tomorrow's Warriors Trust's ongoing work with the next generation of jazz musicians.
