Witness the 1923 silent film masterpiece The Hunchback of Notre Dame as originally intended—projected on the big screen and accompanied live by a historic organ. Lon Chaney's iconic performance as Quasimodo unfolds against the architectural splendour of Notre Dame Cathedral, brought to life by the soaring notes of St Katharine Cree's magnificent 1686 organ—the same instrument once graced by Purcell and Handel.
Renowned cinema organist David Ivory, with over fifty years of experience accompanying silent films, performs an overture before the screening begins, with a brief introduction for those new to silent cinema. The evening showcases both a landmark literary adaptation and a remarkable historic venue in the heart of the City, creating an atmospheric, unforgettable experience for cinema lovers, music enthusiasts, and devotees of storytelling.
Doors open at 7:00pm, overture at 7:30pm, film runtime 92 minutes. PG-rated; no children under 12. A licensed bar operates throughout the evening. All revenue supports the church's ministry and maintenance.
