Celebrate two decades of Studio in the Woods with an evening bringing together the programme's founder, architects, engineers and educators who have shaped this influential model of hands-on architectural learning. What began as an informal gathering of friends in woodland near Bath has evolved into a pioneering summer initiative that challenges conventional architectural practice through direct, collaborative making.
The evening features a discussion with Piers Taylor and guest speakers reflecting on the programme's genesis and transformation, followed by a special screening of Crossing, Lookout, Horizon — a new 14-minute film documenting this year's edition at the AA's Hooke Park campus. Made by three emerging filmmakers through the workshop's mentorship scheme, the film captures three days of hands-on construction and the shared experience of building real structures together.
After the screening, mentors Nyima Murry and Jim Stephenson join this year's cohort and returning speakers for a wider conversation exploring how the workshop continues to offer architecture an alternative path, and what lies ahead for the next 20 years.
