The Carnegie Medals represent the UK's most prestigious and long-established awards honouring exceptional children's and young adult literature. Established nearly a century ago, these awards have continually celebrated outstanding works across multiple formats—novels, short story collections, non-fiction, biographies, verse novels, picture books, graphic novels and more—while adapting to evolving contexts in publishing, education and child psychology.
To mark 90 years of the awards in 2027, this special celebration brings together authors, illustrators and award winners to share their creative journeys, discuss the influence these medals have had on their careers and the literary sector, and offer perspectives on contemporary children's and young adult publishing. The event features a dynamic lineup of speakers discussing their work and the significance of these prestigious accolades.
Attend in person at St Bride Foundation in London or join the live online broadcast via Zoom. In-person doors open at 6.15pm with the programme running 7.00–9.15pm (GMT). Online participation runs 7.00–9.15pm (GMT). Speakers will be announced on 2 November.
