Award-winning Tokyo-based jazz pianist Riyoko Takagi brings her trio to Hampstead Jazz Club to perform material from her latest album, Chasing the World. Since her 2021 debut with Celebrity Standards, all seven of her albums have topped the Japanese jazz charts. Takagi's distinctive style fuses classical precision with jazz spontaneity, transforming familiar standards through breathtaking improvisation and bold reinterpretations.
This evening features her on piano and vocals, supported by bassist Flo Moore and drummer Tom Potter. A single 75-minute set showcases her spellbinding technique and seemingly effortless performance style.
Doors open at 7:30pm, with the show running from 8:00pm to 9:30pm. You may book dinner at the upstairs Duke of Hamilton pub either before or after the performance (reserve at least an hour before showtime). The club itself offers a bar but no food service. The venue is located in the basement of the Duke of Hamilton, accessed by stairs; toilets are on the 1st floor.
