Kaffeine started running coffee classes in 2010, shortly after opening its doors in 2009, because so many customers wanted to know how the drinks were made. The classes are led by the lead and senior baristas, who share their knowledge, skills and enthusiasm for coffee at the 15 Eastcastle Street store, opened in 2015.
Latte Art Classes
A friendly entry point into coffee, these sessions cover espresso-based drinks with a focus on steaming, texturing and pouring milk. Participants learn to create hearts, rosettas, tulips and even swans. The first hour is a demonstration of the machine and the coffee-making process, and the final hour is hands-on milk texturing and pouring. Groups are limited to six people with one trainer for every three, so the classes suit complete beginners as well as home enthusiasts. Light snacks and a take-home handout are included, and you can drink the coffees you make. Oat milk is available on request.
Sessions run every other Thursday and start at 6:30 pm, lasting roughly two hours. Check the website for upcoming dates.
Private Classes
For one or two people, a private session is built around whatever you most want to learn. The trainer will first discuss your experience, then tailor the lesson. Email [email protected] with a few preferred dates and the team will coordinate with trainer availability. Private classes start at 6:30 pm and last about two hours.
Gift Vouchers
Gift vouchers for a class are available as emailable or hard copy versions, and can include a covering letter. You can either pre-book a date or let the recipient choose a date later. To enquire, email [email protected].
