Celebrated feminist theorist and cultural critic Jacqueline Rose presents her latest novel Two Women, an interwoven narrative exploring the lives of two pivotal twentieth-century figures: Edith Stein, a German-Jewish philosopher, and Rose's own sister Gillian Rose, a scholar and philosopher best known for her influential work Love's Work. Through these parallel stories, Rose traces the contours of an entire century of intellectual and personal transformation.
Rose will be in conversation with Alice Spawls, co-editor of the London Review of Books, offering insight into the book's themes, the lives portrayed, and the intersections of philosophy, feminism and family. Doors open at 7 p.m.
