A special big-screen presentation of the new Ukrainian film exploring the early life and creative awakening of Oleksandr Dovzhenko, one of cinema's most influential figures. Set in 1920s Odesa, the film follows the young director's first steps into the medium as he discovers his artistic voice, before becoming a legendary filmmaker in Ukrainian and world cinema.
Starring Hryhorii Baklanov, Maksym Samchyk, Polina Vasylyna and Bohdan Beniuk, this screening offers an intimate look at Dovzhenko not as a historical figure, but as an emerging artist at the very beginning of his journey.
Part of the Women & the World International Film Festival 2026, screened at Rio Cinema, London.
