A walking tour that stays within about 500 metres of the mighty St Paul's Cathedral, following on from the Around Trafalgar Square tour. The route traces how the City of London grew from the Roman settlement of Londinium into a medieval city run by its guilds.
Along the way you'll hear about the architect largely responsible for rebuilding the City after the Great Fire of 1666, and about the modern City, shaped to a great extent by the German bombing raids of 1940. The guide points out many small and large details that people pass every day without noticing, and a good deal of time is spent admiring the cathedral and considering how it has survived to the present day.
