Join celebrated poet Alice Oswald for an evening exploring the timeless power of classical literature. Drawing on her recent book Rhapsody: A Manifesto, Oswald examines why texts like the Odyssey and Iliad have endured for millennia—tracing poetry's origins in oral tradition, natural speech and the sounds of the wild.
Throughout her career, Oswald has made these ancient voices speak anew. Her own acclaimed works include Dart, a long poem following a river, and Memorial, a reimagining of Homer's Iliad that strips away the narrative to reveal its lyrical heart. A former Oxford Professor of Poetry and winner of the T.S. Eliot Prize, Forward Poetry Prize, Griffin Poetry Prize and Costa Poetry Award, Oswald will read from some of the world's greatest poems and discuss her distinctive practice in live conversation.
