Experience The Beatles' iconic 1964 film A Hard Day's Night on the big screen, followed by a live conversation with writer and broadcaster Samira Ahmed. Ahmed will discuss her new book on the film, published as part of the BFI Classics series, exploring how this black-and-white gem became a cinematic landmark.
Shot in documentary style and brimming with youthful energy, the film captured Britain at a pivotal moment of social transformation. Drawing on personal recollection, industry experience and fresh interviews with cast and crew members, Ahmed examines the craft, class politics, and previously overlooked perspectives on the women featured in the film. She reveals how four young men from Liverpool, through television and cinema, changed the way Britain saw itself and how the world perceived Britain.
After the screening, you will have the chance to ask questions. Samira Ahmed's book will be available for purchase on the night.
