This 2-day intensive workshop is designed for people involved in social movement groups who want to build confidence and deepen their facilitation skills. Whether you are new to facilitating meetings or looking to refine existing abilities, this programme covers essential techniques for running effective gatherings.
The weekend explores practical approaches to designing engaging agendas, navigating disagreement constructively, supporting group decision-making aligned with shared values, and building a versatile toolkit of facilitation tactics. Sessions are led by Kelsey and Sami from Resist + Renew, a grassroots training collective drawing on over 60 years of combined movement experience.
The workshop is suited to facilitating day-to-day meetings in campaign or community groups and one-off gatherings, but is not designed for large conferences or conflict mediation.
Practical details: The workshop runs 10am-5pm both Saturday and Sunday — you must be able to attend both days. Basic drinks, snacks and lunch are provided. The venue has lift access to the 3rd floor, gender-neutral toilets, and will accommodate dietary requirements if notified at booking. Regular breaks and varied learning styles are built into the agenda. Lateral flow tests and masks will be available on the day for those who need them. If travel or childcare costs are a barrier, contributions can be arranged — mention this when booking.
